welcome back for another Magical Monday! This week I’m talking all about our trip to Walt Disney World. Let me just say first of all I Do Not recommend doing what my husband and I did. Please enjoy your time at the most magical place on earth, Please Do take more then 1 day to enjoy all the parks and resorts that Disney World has to offer. With that being said lets talk about doing Walt Disney World in 1 day.
My husband and I decided last minute to take a Disney Cruise and with the port being in Port Canaveral we decided to take advantage of staying on disney property so we wouldn’t have to rent a car or worry about missing the cruise by flying in the same day as disembarkation of the cruise. I took it upon my self to talk my husband into taking a red eye flight to Orlando International Airport so we we would get to florida 1 day early, at 6:00 in the morning. Which I would never do again, I can’t stress this enough! My apple watch determined that i stood for 23 hrs, burned over 1,181 calories and some how only exercised 42 minutes, which I thought I would’ve exercised more considering we had walked over 10 miles in ONE Day! that’s way too much walking.
So… We got to orlando international at about 6:30am, we walked right over to the Magical Express, Disney Worlds bus system that picks you up and drops you off at the air port, and headed strait for our hotel we were staying at. We were lucky enough to be staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House. For those of you that don’t know, Animal kingdom Lodge has 2 different hotels, Kidani which is the Disney Vacation Club villas, and Jambo House which is were most non vacation club guests stay. We were so excited to be staying there because that’s where we stayed on our honey moon. Now when we booked our Cruise I had wanted to stay at one of the POP resorts just because it was cheaper, but they didn’t have anything at any of the value of moderate resorts all they had was Animal Kingdom so we took it.
We got to the resort and dropped off our carry on luggage and headed straight for the parks. You see when I found out we could spend one day in the parks I started planning where we should go. I really wanted to experience Toy Story Land, and my husband really wanted to experience Pandora. We decided to spend the 1st half of the day in Hollywood Studios and the 2nd half in Animal Kingdom.
the great thing about staying at a Disney resort is the transportation system they have. There is no need to rent a car or take an uber, they have a buses, boats, monorail, and starting in the fall they will a gondola system to take you from your hotel strait to the parks.
We were able to get to Hollywood Studios before rope drop. We got there around 7:30 and the park was supposed to open at 9. We grabbed Starbucks, because we needed it having only slept for about an hour on the plane, it was going to be a long day, and waited for rope drop. At about 8:30 we were so surprised and excited when they announced they were going to walk us to Toy Story land early.
It was super cute and I loved the feeling of being a toy. Every little detail of the new land was so cute and made you feel so small. The rides were just as fun and cute as the land, Sling Dog Dash was lots of fun and so worth the wait, so was Swirling Saucers it was just like Matters Junkyard Jamboree in California Adventure. But there was a lack of shade over in the Land, other then that it was amazing! They did have a quick service restaurant and it was pretty good, we ate breakfast there.By the time we had done and seen everything in Toy Story Land the park had officially opened and we were able to enjoy the rest of the park.
we spent the rest of our trip to Hollywood Studios celebrating our anniversary at our favorite restaurant 50’s Prime Time Cafe and enjoyed our favorite rides Tower of Terror and Rockin’ Rollercoaster. Very unpopular opinion but my husband and I’s favorite park in Florida is definitely Hollywood Studios.
After our fun filled morning in Hollywood Studios we jumped on a bus and headed for Animal Kingdom. When we got there we headed strait for Pandora and it was beyond beautiful! The most amazing land I’ve ever seen from Disney, all the colors and plants and the amazing floating mountains, just amazing! The one thing that wasn’t amazing was the wait times for the attractions in pandora, and how the cast members operate the rides.
Now I know there are protocols for every attraction, I used to work 2 of them, but let me tell you it was a mess! The line could’ve easily been 1 hour instead of 2 1/2 if Disney would embrace a different shifting of the fast pass line and the standby line. I know this system well, because we used to use it at haunted mansion during holiday season. Before this new system was put in place it was when you saw people coming through fast pass you would stop the stand by line and let about 2 or 3 parties in then 2 or 3 from stand by. Now the system that they started to use during holidays and have continued to use is 1 party from standby goes and then all of fast pass. That’s why the lines are so long. It’s ridiculous!
Anyway we went on Flight of Passage, and it was pretty amazing. Was it worth waiting 2 1/2 hours for, absolutely not! The only way I would go on it again is if I had a fast pass. After visiting Pandora it was around 3 and we decided to go on Expedition Everest it’s one of our favorite rides! We got stuck at the top of the mountain for about 5 minutes waiting to go down the big drop, everyone thought we were going to get walked off. Then it just took off and I was so happy I didn’t have to walk down all those stairs.
By the time we made it to the hotel it was about 6 and we were exhausted so hungry. We were so unsure of where we were supposed to meet in the morning for the cruise or what time we needed to have our bags ready or where we were supposed to meet the people, so we went to the lobby and started asking questions, they asked us about our day. And we told them about our bad experience on Pandora, and when and where we were supposed to meet for the cruise. after saying he was sorry about our bad experience and he gave us a fastpass to use on any ride we wanted in Magic kingdom, and told us all the info for the cruise. So we trecked it to our room and debated on if we should go or not, we decided why not, changed and left our room and headed for the bus system that took us to the park.
We got to the park just in time for fireworks and we decided lets just use the fastpass, get something to eat and then go back to the hotel and re pack everything for the cruise. We wanted to use our fastpass on Haunted Mansion, but when we got there we just walked right on. so we used it on the Seven Dwafts Mine Train. Anyone who ever has the chance to ride this ride during the fireworks I would Highly suggest it, It was so amazing! And don’t let anyone tell you watching the fireworks from the back of the castle in Fantasyland is a waste. I liked it better then the front, we sang and danced and no one was back there it was an amazing experience I can’t wait to do again. we finished off the night in the most unhealthiest of ways by grabbing chili cheese fries and mac and cheese fries and headed back to the hotel ate and reorganized our 2 suitcases. I definitely wouldn’t suggest doing what we did, 3 parks in 1 day, but if the opportunity ever arises again I think I would do it. Who am I kidding I WOULD Not do that ever again. But it made for amazing memories, well what I could remember anyways.
Don’t worry the cruise blog is definitely coming next! I hope the long pause between blog posts has turned you away. I’ve had to make some unexpected trips back to California to meet with a new Neruosurgery specialist to talk about another surgery.
see you next week! Pinky Promise!
p.s. please excuse how I look I had just spent the night on a plane and didn’t have time to fix my hair or make up.
